Introduction to Critical Appraisal course Thursday 17th October open to all Trust staff.

This session will enable participants to:


-Understand the role of Critical Appraisal within the Evidence-Based Healthcare process.

-To appraise a randomized controlled trial (RCT) paper using an approved checklist.

-to be introduced to the role of statistics in RCTs.

and access is available for all Trust staff currently through www.uptodate.com

BMJ Case Reports are now available to all Trust members with Athens logins


with this organisation on a trial basis in Jan-Feb.

Go to http://casereports.bmj.com/

and To login simply click the sign in button on the right hand side and

then click Log in via Athens and enter your Athens Username and Password.

You can then search the backfile of Case Reports or submit a Case Report

yourself.

If you wish to submit a report apply to Library
staff for the Fellowship Submission Code.

123doc Athens access

The interface for 123doc Education which allows access to practice questions through NHS Athens has changed.

Go to 123.doc through MYAthens as usual.


You can still get in if you click Login-DON'T fill in your Athens details there but click on the link that says Login with Athens.

Then put in your Athens username and password again.

You'll probably need to fill in an Update Your details page and then you can go into the Exams and Courses.

The following exams are available:

 MRCS A1 & A2 and extra revision


- FRCA Primary

- MRCP Part I & II

- MRCPCH Part I & II

- DCH

Changes to Athens Login through Science Direct (Elsevier)

Online access to the Lancet journal is available but the login process to this and other journals provided by Elsevier has changed.

The new process is find the journal through MyJournals on MyAthens or www.hilo.nhs.uk

Click on "Go to Athens / Institution Login"

Choose "OpenAthens Federation (Eduserv)" from the drop down list under "Please choose your institution's region or group"

You will be presented with an alphabetical list. Scroll down and click on "NHS England"

You will now be prompted for your regular NHS Athens login.
